Cripps moves into new office

Law firm Cripps has moved into its new office headquarters in Tunbridge Wells, the first substantial office building to have been built in the town for more than 25 years.

The 40,000 sq ft state of the art building, which is on the site of the former Kent & Sussex Hospital, was built by Berkeley Homes as part of its major Royal Wells Park development and will be occupied by around 300 staff over four floors.

The firm is one of the largest employers in the town and had been looking for new offices for over ten years. “Tunbridge Wells has been home to Cripps since the firm was founded in 1852 and we were determined to remain here but the problem was finding somewhere large enough in the town centre,” said managing partner Gavin Tyler.

“We had been based in five different buildings in Mount Ephraim Road since the early 1990s and this move has enabled all our Tunbridge Wells staff to be in one building for the first time since we left our original office in Calverley Road over 20 years ago. We also have offices in Kings Hill and London to make access for clients as easy as possible.

“Modern business requires modern practices and we have made very significant investments in the latest technology and office systems to ensure that we can operate as collaboratively and efficiently as possible. We are delighted to have found such wonderful offices in the town.

“This is a major step in the firm’s history and the length of our office search is a statement of our commitment to the local community.”

Some of the office furniture and equipment from the old offices has been donated to charitable groups and organisations, including Cripps’ new neighbour the Wells Free School and Computers 4 Africa.

Cripps has a national reputation for the quality of its legal expertise with many of its lawyers ranked amongst the best in the country.
