Two of Cripps’ private client lawyers have been shortlisted for the Kent Law Society Awards 2017 which recognise technical excellence, client service and acknowledge the contribution made by legal professionals to their local community.

Simon Leney, an established practitioner who has been a partner at Cripps for more than 25 years, has been shortlisted for the ‘Outstanding Achievement Award’ and family solicitor Helen Fisher shortlisted for ‘Kent Junior Lawyer of the Year’.

Simon has more than 35 years’ experience in private client advisory work with a particular focus on tax and estate planning and trustee services for ultra high net worth clients as well as high value, complex probate and trust work.

He is one of two practitioners who sit on the Law Society’s Wills and Inheritance Quality Scheme and he is also a member of the society’s Capital Taxes sub-committee. He has been featured in Debrett’s People of Today for the last nine years, is included in the Citywealth Leaders List and initiated, on behalf of Cripps, school events to promote a career in the law.

Helen joined Cripps a year ago and focuses on matrimonial finance cases. She also assists in complex matters including contested proceedings with technical arguments concerning assets in excess of £16 million.

“Simon and Helen are a credit to both the profession and this firm,” said Cripps’ Senior Partner, Clare Hyland. “Simon has been heavily involved in the firm’s development over the years and is a key player in the private client division. During that time he has unfailingly got behind every new initiative we have implemented, helping drive new business and change for the firm.

“Helen is one of our brightest young lawyers and is highly regarded by clients and colleagues alike. She regularly demonstrates that her knowledge of the law is second to none and she is very sensitive to clients’ needs in what can be a distressing time in their lives.”

The awards are for lawyers whose professional activities over the previous 12 months are worthy of special recognition. These include notable achievements, highest standards of professionalism, groundbreaking work and contributions to the legal and wider community.

Cripps’ private client team has also been shortlisted for two national awards, the Citywealth Magic Circle Awards 2017 for ‘Law Firm of the Year: Regional’ and ‘Family/Matrimonial Law Firm: Full Service’. Winners are chosen by a panel of judges and clients – who can vote by clicking here until 21 April.
