This is the final day of our guide to the GDPR and today we are looking at what your organisation can do to prepare for the new legislation.

What should I do next?

Many UK organisations will be required to significantly alter their existing data protection practices in order to ensure compliance with the new provisions and because of this we would encourage all organisations begin preparing for the upcoming changes now, as depending on the size or complexity of your business, it could have significant budget, governance and communication implications. Notably the ICO states that due to the complexity of the new regime, compliance will be difficult if it is left to the last moment.

In response to the new legislation the ICO has published a 12-step checklist providing guidance on preparing for the GDPR which highlights aspects of the GDPR that are expected to have the most significant impact.
