An exceptionally strong performance in this year’s Legal 500 guide has seen Cripps strengthen its position as one of the South East’s leading law firms.

Recognised as a regional heavyweight, Cripps is awarded the highest South East ranking in eight specialist areas across its corporate, real estate and private client divisions. A further top ranking is given for its expertise in the London commercial property market.

The guide recommends Cripps in a total of 24 practice areas in the South East and a further four in London. In addition, four of its team – Philip Youdan, Simon Leney, Miles Paffard and Michael Stevens – are highlighted as leading UK lawyers in their field, with a further 36 commended for their expertise.

Gavin Tyler, managing partner at Cripps, said: “This is an excellent performance and to receive such recognition in so many specialist areas is proof of our position as a leading South East law firm, serving clients in London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex – one that can match and better the offering of many national players.”

Particularly notable in the guide is the regional strength of the Cripps corporate and commercial division, which is described as a “high-quality team delivering high-quality work”, adding “the exceptionally large team has sector specialisms in healthcare, advertising and technology”.

There is further praise for the “first-class” property lawyers and the “excellent” service they offer; the “fantastic” healthcare team; the “impressive” family and intellectual property offerings; the size of the employment team as well as the “fantastic” contentious trusts and probate team which “rivals London firms”.

  • Commercial property – Kent, Surrey, Sussex
  • Commercial property (retail) – London
