Law firm Cripps welcomed chef, author and TV personality Rosemary Shrager to judge its annual staff bake-off last night, in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust.

The bake-off has been running for three years, and is the last key event in the Cripps fundraising calendar.  Staff are invited to submit bakes into one of three rounds – sweet, savoury and showstopper – with the best of each receiving a prize.

Rosemary Shrager judged the bakes alongside winner of the ‘Showstopper’ last year –  Cripps’ partner Jessica Jamieson.  A total of 15 staff members participated this year, with five competing in each category.

The winners were recruitment advisor, Katie Slade in the sweet round, legal assistant, Matt Walker in savoury and jointly taking top prize in the showstopper round were conveyancer Michelle Perkins and paralegal Jade Baker.

“It was a pleasure to be invited to judge the Cripps bake-off,” Rosemary said.  “I was impressed by the quality of the entries and the enthusiasm shown by the staff in favour of such a worthy cause.  I look forward to hearing the final fundraising total.”

Trainee solicitor Sarupe Uppal, who organised the event, commented: “We are delighted that so many members of staff have supported this event. There has been a real buzz this year as we welcomed Rosemary Shrager to judge.  We have many passionate bakers at Cripps who have been practising their bakes in advance, much to the delight of their colleagues!”

Following the judging, bakes were sold in aid of the firm’s charity of the year, Teenage Cancer Trust.  The charity provides life changing care and support to young people living with cancer across the UK.

Fellow judge Jessica Jamieson said: “Our bakers pulled out all the stops this year and it was a really tough competition.  It was a pleasure to judge alongside Rosemary. Having taken part last year I understand how much time and effort goes into the bakes.  The final fundraising total for 2017 is currently being calculated and we look forward to sharing this in the New Year.”
