I’m director of international arbitration and advise clients on arbitration agreements and I represent them in arbitrations. I bring to those roles my experience as acting as an arbitrator.
I have over 40-years of experience in representing clients in high-stakes commercial disputes in the highest courts and in arbitration. I now concentrate on international commercial and investor-state arbitrations.
I am known for bringing an intellectual rigour to problem analysis, I am the author of three arbitration-related books and numerous articles and thought leadership pieces. I am a regular speaker at arbitration conferences and publish a regular bulletin on arbitration.
I work across a variety of sectors with particular emphasis with M&A disputes, transport and logistics, pharma, energy and process engineering. I also have an advanced understanding of damages and loss.

My experience
Acted for the successful appellant in Kwik Lets v Khaira [2020] EWHC 616 (QB) rejecting an Braganza implied term.
Represented party (as funded party in proceedings in California) in dispute with litigation funder, in arbitration (part) and subsequent litigation (reported as Hays v Bloomfield).
Represented investor against Hungary in a claim under the Energy Charter Treaty.
