Places and Spaces webinar: Mind the gap
This event was a key part of our Places and Spaces series, which explored the legal challenges and emerging opportunities shaping today’s real estate landscape.
Recent changes to the National Planning Policy Framework signalled a clear pro-growth direction, including a stronger presumption in favour of residential development close to railway stations and other well-connected transport hubs. However, while the policy intent was clear, the reality on the ground was far more nuanced.
In this Places and Spaces webinar, Mind the Gap, we explored what the NPPF actually said about development on land near transport hubs, where this policy applied in practice, and what was required in order to unlock development on sites outside of settlement boundaries and within the Green Belt for land near railway stations.
What we covered
James, Rebecca and Andy Black will talked through:
Pro-growth planning reforms and the focus on land near transport hubs
What the NPPF really required
Why policy support did not equal permission
The technical details that influenced outcomes
We were delighted to be joined by James Bevis from i-Transport for this webinar.
The webinar was of interest to developers, landowners, investors and public-sector stakeholders navigating brownfield land, connectivity-led development and the realities of planning policy in practice.
