Cripps ‘punches above its weight’ with continued recognition in 2027 Chambers and Legal 500 rankings
UK Top 100 law firm Cripps continues to be recognised in the 2027 editions of Chambers UK and Legal 500, affirming its position as a prominent law firm across London and the Southeast.
Legal 500
The breadth of the firm’s expertise is evident in the Legal 500 2027 guide, with Cripps achieving 13 Tier 1 rankings across a broad range of practice areas, with top-tier recognition spanning corporate and commercial, commercial litigation, personal tax, trusts and probate, contentious trusts and probate, commercial property and construction and overall recognition in 30 practice areas.
Cripps also saw strong recognition for our individual lawyers, with 39 individuals ranked and a host of new rankings including ‘Leading Partner’ status for Jessica Jamieson (personal tax and succession), Kate Arnold (head of private client group) and Pete Kenyon (commercial and tech). Katie Haylock (corporate) was named a ‘Next Generation Partner’ whilst Sophie Walsh (will, trust and probate disputes) and Victoria Jackson (corporate) are added to the rankings as ‘Leading Associates’. Philip Youdan (will, trust and probate disputes) has been promoted from ‘Leading Partner’ to ‘Hall of Fame’.
‘City-level quality with a more approachable style’
In testimonials, Cripps is described as a firm that: “punches above its weight and provides an excellent client service, meeting deadlines and working hard to achieve the best deal possible for us as their client.”
Elsewhere it was said that: “Cripps stands out for combining technical strength with pragmatic, solutions-led advice. The team is proactive, commercially minded and exceptionally user-friendly, translating complexity into clear options, risks and recommendations, and progressing matters at pace. Cripps delivers City-level quality with a more approachable, implementation-focused style.”
Chambers & Partners
In this year’s annual ranking, the firm maintained its status with 15 ranked departments and 31 individual rankings secured. Two practice areas have been promoted to Band 1, with three new individual rankings and three individual ranking improvements. Information Technology and Restructuring/Insolvency have both moved up from Band 2 to Band 1., giving the firm six Band 1 rankings in total.
Individually, Jo Ford (restructuring/insolvency) has moved up from Band 2 to Band 1. Laura Southgate has been recognised as Band 5 in Real Estate Litigation (London), whilst Jessica Dick (real estate litigation (London) is a new entry in the ‘Associate to Watch’ category and Phil Bilney (intellectual property) has moved up from ‘Associate to Watch’ to ‘Up and Coming’. Noel Ruddy has been recognised as a Senior Statesperson in Corporate/M&A. Whilst Noel has now retired from the firm, it’s fitting to see his longstanding contribution and reputation in the market recognised in this way.
James Beatton, our managing partner, said: “These results follow the Chambers High Net Worth rankings released earlier this year. Together, all these rankings provide a useful benchmark of how our practice groups and lawyers continue to be viewed by clients, referrers and the wider market.
“These rankings are a testament to the firm’s commitment to delivering exceptional legal services and building trusted relationships with clients. We’ve maintained our departmental rankings, increased the number of individual rankings secured, and seen several positive movements for teams and individuals. We are proud of all our teams and individuals who have been recognised and thank our clients for their continued trust and support.”
