HR Professionals Forum

25 Jun 2026

We’re excited to invite you to the upcoming HR Professionals Forum, a virtual roundtable designed to spark meaningful discussion and practical learning.

In this session we will cover:

What you need to know about changes to unfair dismissal rights and the impact on probationary periods

Reform to unfair dismissal rights proposed by the Employment Rights Act 2025 are set to significantly reshape how employers manage new hires and the early stages of employment. By reducing the qualifying period to six months, these changes will alter service requirements and place greater scrutiny on decisions made during probationary periods.

In this session, we will focus on these changes, explore their implications and help employers prepare for what’s ahead. We’ll cover:

  • Changes to qualifying service for unfair dismissal claims;
  • The importance of probationary periods and early stage employee management;
  • Risks and practical challenges for employers navigating the new framework; and
  • Steps HR professionals can take to ensure they are prepared
